Acts 17:11: Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.

The Bereans didn’t blindly accept Paul’s word about Jesus as gospel but compared it to scripture to validate the truth of his message. We have access to incredible pastors, speakers, teachers, authors, songwriters, etc.

We also have access to the complete scripture and the Holy Spirit of God what breathed us into being. Instead of assuming what another person says is correct, follow the example of the Bereans and filter every teaching through scripture.

Context!

Originally the Bible had none of the headings, chapter divisions, or verse numbers we see today. These were added hundreds of years later as a convenience. While they are extremely helpful in referencing and studying scripture, let the Holy Spirit be your guide as you read God’s living and active word. There is no other book like it in that respect.

Don’t assume the man-made divisions of chapters and verses or added headings dictate where you should start and stop in engaging with the Word.
