All the people we read about in the Bible are more than characters in a story. They’re real people who were far from perfect but interacted with the one true God. It’s out of Jacob’s brokenness that God transformed him into a nation.

Even if my busyness and activity is religious, I could be far from God. I could have all the right answers and know God’s Word. Without the transformative work of the Holy Spirit, it’s only going through the motions of a “religious career”.
